Spring Schedule - Rural Water Shows in the Northwest

Posted by Laura Fleming on Thu, Feb 06, 2014 @ 13:02 PM

Well, it's actually a bit of winter schedule, but this winter needs more spring.

We are kicking off our trade show schedule by being in two places:  Fargo, North Dakota and Great Falls, Montana.  In both cases, we are attending the State Rural Water Show.

At the Fargo Rural Water Show, SRS Crisafulli's Troy Fercho, Dredge Sales and Rental, will be making a presentation:  Wastewater Lagoon Dredging Process.

The A Team will then travel to Des Moines, Iowa, for their Rural Water Show (February 24 - 26), and swing by the Pumper Show in Indianapolis.  Let us know if you want to meet up.  We are traveling lightly at the Pumper Show - you will not find us on the Exhibitors List.

In March, we are working the Idaho Rural Water Show (March 12 - 14) in Boise, and then at the end of April, we will be at the California Rural Water Show at Lake Tahoe.  We can't wait for that show - as it will actually be spring then, even if California is experiencing a drought.

Of course, we will also be at the Glendive Agri-Tech Exposition at the Eastern Plains Event Center that opens tomorrow, February 7, and continues into Saturday.  We are introducing SRS Crisafulli's DUAL-PRO (540/1000) Power Unit at this event.  Please stop by.  Our original camouflage trailer pump will also be on display outdoors.

In many areas of North Dakota, water used for domestic, municipal, and livestock needs, is of
insufficient quantity and/or quality. This has inconvenienced the residents of small towns and rural areas, as well as retarded the overall economic growth of North Dakota. The formation of rural water systems has helped to bring clean, safe water to many of these areas throughout North Dakota.

Quoting from a recent press release in the Idaho Statesman:  "Idaho Gov. Otter touted a study in his State of the State address to look at raising the height of the nearly century-old Arrowrock Dam to increase the Treasure Valley's water supply.  But if the 348-foot dam is raised, it will be flood control that drives the decision and the millions of dollars in federal spending the project would need...  an estimated $10 billion worth of homes, buildings and other structures lie in the Boise River flood plain.  Water supply is a future concern for Idaho's farmers, but flooding is an every-year worry for anyone living along the river."

Water is never boring.

Harlem Sludge Removal Project - a Montana working holiday

Posted by Troy Fercho on Tue, Jul 16, 2013 @ 10:07 AM

By Laura Fleming, President

For those of you who are following the Harlem Sludge Removal project, after several rain delays, the job is finally scheduled to proceed.  The job is setting up this weekend, (July 20th) and will run approximately 2 weeks.  The assignment is to dredge municipal sludge into a Geotube on site for dewatering into at least 75 dry ton of cake.

As reported here earlier, our electric remote controlled dredge - The Flump - will be used in conjunction with Tencate Geotubes and WaterSolve's flocculants to decant and dewater 35 years of sludge from this small Wastewater Treatment Plant three lagoon system.

The training associated with this installation - 2013 Sludge Removal for Small System Wastewater Operators Workshop - was presented by Wastewater Technician Dan Kramer, Randy Wilcox of WaterSolve, and Alan Juncker of Tencate on June 6th.  SRS Crisafulli's Chad Schipman gave a presentation on this history of the Crisafulli sludge removal systems product line.

The graduating class:  Montana Rural Water Association offered Continuing Education for participants in this half day demonstration and training at the Harlem City Hall.

Harlem Montana is on the high-line of Montana's Rte 2.  The Amtrak train stops on either side of Harlem - in both Havre and Malta.  If you'd like to visit the jobsite by train, we will meet you.  You'll be 4 hours east of Glacier National Park - another stop on the Amtrak line.  Pack your bag for a summer hike, and you have yourself a holiday.

We know there are plenty of small wastewater systems out there that operators must desludge.  We welcome visitors to this jobsite to see how it's done.  Seriously, SRS Crisafulli and our partners on this project are making great efforts to educate and demonstrate the most common strategy Wastewater lagoon operators can deploy to maintain compliance, and a long lasting lagoon system.

To schedule an appointment at the job-site, please call the Glendive offices of SRS Crisafulli, Inc., at 406 365 3393, or phone direct to SRS Crisafulli Dredge Rental Manager, Troy Fercho at 612 419 9312.

Overcoming Challenges in the International Dredge Market

SRS Crisafulli, Inc. ships a shallow draft dredge to Manila, Philippines to ring in 2013

CIMG1511comp

After a year of close collaboration with the customer, SRS Crisafulli’s versatile resources in both engineering and manufacturing resulted in shipment of a Rotomite SD-110 shallow draft dredge to Maynilad Water Service in the Philippines.

Three Philippine firms played key roles to close the deal – i.e., Maynilad Water Services, a private water and wastewater provider for the 17 cities and municipalities that comprise the West Zone of the greater Metro Manila area, WaterKonsult Equipment and Service, Inc., a leading equipment and service supplier serving Maynilad and many other Philippine water utilities and water districts, and SRS Crisafulli’s authorized Factory Representative, Ramoncito “Chito” Manaois, of RFM Machinery & Equipment Corp. of Manila, Philippines.

In February of 2012, Waterkonsult contacted SRS Crisafulli through SRS Crisafulli’s website.

Maynilad Water Service needed to remove sediment at its La Mesa Treatment Plant 1.  The sediment-bearing water comes from the Angat Dam and travels more than 30 kilometers to the plant. The river also carries silt to the treatment plant where sludge is collected at the bottom of sedimentation basins. To achieve acceptable, sustained settled water quality and to comply with environmental regulations, La Mesa Treatment Plant 1 must clean its sedimentation basins twice a year.  Cleaning the basins twice a year will preserve basin capacity and water quality.

Waterkonsult learned of Maynilad’s bid offering and contacted SRS Crisafulli. Waterkonsult, in association with Crisafulli’s Philippine sales representative, asked SRS Crisafulli for detailed product specifications for the Rotomite SD-110 dredge, and what makes the Rotomite SD-110 a superior dredge.

Over the next several months, personnel from Crisafulli, Ramoncito, and Waterkonsult collaborated with Maynilad, answering requests for more information on the Rotomite SD-110. After satisfactorily answering all the requests, the Rotomite SD-110 dredge was selected. The winning SD-110 package offers a high-performing dredge pump able to move 1500 gpm at 80ft TDH in water.  The cutterhead has a 90-inch by 15-inch opening for high sludge production. The hydraulic thruster enables the dredge to be driven like a boat.

On December 31, 2012, the Rotomite SD-110 left SRS Crisafulli’s Factory headed for Manilia for delivery in February 2013. Pursuant to SRS Crisafulli’s superior worldwide service, a SRS Crisafulli Factory-trained engineer will travel to Manila to support the installation and to commission the Rotomite SD-110 dredge.

Stay tuned…
